LA Data Center Infrastructure

MULTACOM data centers offer complete redundancy in power, HVAC, Pre-Action, fire suppression (FM-200), network connectivity and security, incorporating raised flooring (DC1 & DC3), dual power grids, UPS battery backup power and diesel generators.

The three primary MULTACOM data centers are located on the 4th floor of 707 Wilshire Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles. This location enables us to connect easily to virtually any backbone provider and scale our internet connectivity to meet clients’ needs. Additionally, the network is directly connected via diverse path fiber optic lines to many of the other carrier buildings in downtown LA such as One Wilshire, 600 W. 7th Street and 530 W. 6th Street, which host our network equipment and are used as expansion data center space. Services offered at these data centers include private caged suites, cabinets, half-cabinets and rack space, as well as dedicated servers. In addition, a local (in building) full transit connection is established which increases our redundancy in case of any network failure that could affect major connectivity points such as One Wilshire. We also have a direct connection to Cogent Communications which maintains its core infrastructure at 707 Wilshire.

LA Data Center Security

Our data centers are continuously monitored via video surveillance cameras and 24-hour on-site security personnel with the use of sophisticated two-tier access control systems.

Access to 4th floor elevators as well as the data centers individually is restricted and controlled via a HID contact-less access control system (floor access and DC1 and DC2) and biometric access control systems (DC4). As MULTACOM is the only tenant on the 4th floor, limited access to the entire floor provides an additional level of security.

LA Data Center Power

DC1 and DC2 power is backed up by diesel generator. One feed is available from TWO UPS systems which are configured in parallel redundant mode and a second feed can be obtained from a third independent UPS which also provides divergent power to your equipment if requested. Every outlet is connected to a smart PDU to minimize downtime due to over utilization and provides remote reboot capability for servers without built in IPMI.

Data center 2: 110V 20A Circuits.

Data center One Wilshire: 208V/220V 5A Metered 10A Metered 20A Circuits.

Data center 530 NAC: 208V/220V 5A Metered 10A Metered 20A Circuits.

Data center 4: 208/220V 5A Metered, 10A, 20A Circuits.

LA Data Center Cooling

Both data centers DC1 and DC2 employ a redundant set of 11 HVAC units which are controlled by software. One set of HVAC units (primary set) utilizes building chilled water and the other (secondary set) utilizes our own dedicated chillers which are located on the side of the building and are independent of the building’s chilled water supply. Additionally, air from the top of the building is fed to the space when temperature at the top of the high-rise is lower than ambient air temperature inside the space.

DC4, our newest data center to go online, offers new Libert CW cooling systems. Four 20 Ton units and two 10 Ton units cool this data center combined with hot air exhaust. If redundancy is required, a stackable chiller dedicated to this suite is able to benefit from the building’s primary chilled water bypass in case of failure.

LA Data Center Network

The location uses diverse conduit paths to many other carrier buildings in downtown Los Angeles. Redundant dark fiber between each connected building and divergent path to many of the carrier buildings ensures unsurpassed network reliability at this location.
